A home away from home

Mwebesa House offers eight comfortable en-suite guest bedrooms in Buhoma, with views of the Bwindi Impenetrable forest, home to most of the mountain gorilla population of Uganda.

Each of the rooms is individually and traditionally furnished using products made on site by members of the Ride 4 a woman initiative, the leading women’s empowerment project in Buhoma.

The wonderful thing about staying with us at Mwebesa House is that as you stay you are giving back.  The room fees that you pay go straight in to supporting the women of Buhoma, who daily face the challenges of poverty, HIV and domestic violence.

This is the perfect base for those wishing to track gorillas and also have the opportunity to immerse in real Ugandan culture. A truly authentic experience awaits you.

When you stay at Mwebesa House you take your meals in our beautiful new restaurant with open balcony. You can sit after your gorilla trek or after immersing in some of our cultural activities (link to activities section) and drink African tea spiced, Ugandan coffee or a Waragi & Stoneys (gin & ginger beer) while your dinner is cooked, and listen to the call of the Blue Turaco…
