Traditional cooking
Join us in the kitchen
At Ride 4 A Woman you can learn how to cook traditional dishes of the Bakiga tribe. Wander through our gardens, pick and dig your choice of vegetables and herbs then set to work with the women.
Buhoma, in the beautiful Bwindi Impenetrable Forest - home to most of Uganda’s mountain gorillas - is a community steeped in tradition and culture. Experience real Uganda by joining the women in the kitchen to cook: Kalo Bread, from locally grown millet; G-nut (groundnut) sauce, the favourite pink sauce found all over Uganda; Matoke (green banana), prepare it, wrap it and watch it cook on the fire; Goat’s meat roasted and boiled; Irish potatoes (Imonda) and the local drink, Obushera, made from sorghum, millet, honey and water.
Cooking with us is a perfect way to spend a couple of spare hours around your gorilla trekking plans or if you are not trekking why not spend more time with us and learn to Dance, Weave or Sew?
If you want to arrange the activity contact us or you can wait until you come to Ride 4 a Woman and let us know then.
